Hi Everyone!
As most of you probably know by now I'm moving my blog from blogger over here to a cozy new typepad home. I would hate to lose anyone so I hope you come visit and stay for awhile and don't forget to update your links/bloglines!
I'm running a mini contest here, comments will be open from now until Tuesday morning (5/30/06) 8:30am EST. Please leave me a comment and tell me what your favorite part of a blog is. Is it the reading list? search buttons? links to patterns? etc.... I'd like to hear your feedback so I can build my blog and make sure I incorporate what people are interested in seeing. And hey, I think this will be pretty interesting.
So, leave a comment, tell me what you like to see and you'll be entered in a drawing for two skeins of lovely pink koigu!
Good Luck!

Fun contest! What a prize. Let's see, my favorite part has got to be the pictures. If the pictures are tiny, it just doesn't draw me in. I like to be able to see details without squinting.

Hey! I just found you through Typepad's "recently published" list (one of my favorite parts of Typepad, to be honest -- I find so many new blogs that way).
My favorite part of a blog is the content -- pictures of projects, recommendations, a little about what makes the blogger tick and their passions, the occasional recipe. ; ) I enjoy the link list to other bloggers, also.
I'm looking forward to reading more!

Well, like everyone else, I like the content & the photos. Being on dial up, I prefer small-ish thumbnails with links to large photos. Otherwise, the page won't load for me, and that's it - I won't try more than once (on any given day, that is). I'd rather be able to open up photos in a separate window while reading the rest of the blog.
I like reading lists, being a reader as well, but I love looking at WIPs lists, FO lists, current swaps or KALs - esp. links, links, links! I love finding out about other fun things in the knitting world & I usually find out through another blog. So my favorite thing would be the links.

Content! What's being worked on, pictures of progress, etc. After that I'd have to say links to what others are reading and participating in. That is very pretty Koigu!

Yarn p0rn and seeing what's attracting people--who's all flocking to a single new pattern, who's swimming against the tide and why.

my favorite feature of some blogs is when they tag all their entries with keywords like "knitting pattern" "spinning" "recipes" and then have links on the side bar that call up all posts with said tag.
And I love seeing pictures!

Reading blogs is my link to others that share the same interests I do. Since I really don't "get out" all that much I enjoy reading what everyone is doing not only with their knitting projects but how life is treating them! Pictures are fun and links to other blogs/patterns I always check out!
Often I try a pattern or yarn type because I read about it on someone's blog!
You know ~~just like that pink Koigu!!

I think my favorite part is the pictures and the blog entries themselves. Thanks for the contest!

oh this is a great contest. my fav part of a blog is the pix and the posts, they give me a glimpse into a life of another knitter/crocheter not to mention it helps me to form friendships via the internet by reading and finding people with the same interests and thoughts... of course i love contests but i never seem to win we'll see about this one..

My favorite part is definitely the entries and especially pictures, but other than those I like the KAL and Swap list because I like seeing what everyone knitty is doing.

I like blogs because I feel connected to a community of people with the same interest that I have - knitting. I also like them because they keep me up to date on the new "stuff" out there (yarn, patterns, books, etc).
Great contest!

I love to hear your knitty gritty thoughts!

I like pictures that are taken in a context so I get a little peek into the life of the writer, ie: knitted item in the garden or held up in front of a view. I also like tidbits about the person's nonknitting passions be they craft related, reading or cooking.

Your new home looks great. I just love pink and just had to say so;-) Typepad is easy to use and it looks great here.

I LOVE pictures - frequent updates with pictures keeps me coming back to a blog time after time. Give us a peek at what is on the needles and provides inspiration.

my favorite part of a blog is the posts of course and I always prefer a post with pictures- if it's knitting I love a link to the pattern because blogs is where I get most of my pattern ideas from. Welcome to typepad- it's my fave.

Pictures are always a huge draw but what keeps me reading a blog is the writing. I like to hear funny stories, knitting progress and interesting new patterns, yarns or notions. I find that the variety of things that people are working on and their observations about how thier projects progress have changed my knitting in amazing ways.
Great contest!

When I first visit a blog, I usually check out the FO gallery to get a sense of what the person's knitting interests are. Then it's the posts.

My favorite part of a blog is the blogger--the "voice" in which she (most but not all the blogs I read are written by women) writes; the opinions/impressions/feelings/reviews of projects as she makes them; the glimpses into her non-electronic life. Sidebar info is perfectly nice, and links are incredibly helpful (and, indeed, part of the fun). But if I don't like the "person" I'm reading, I'm not coming back, no matter how many links to yarn sales or whatever she's got.

I just love seeing pictures of projects in progress.

my favorite parts are the posts and pictures getitng to know who I'm reading about.
Good luck and have fun moving! The winner sure will be in for a treat with not only such a lovely colorway but great yarn too!

LOvely look to your new blog. It's clean and fresh! What do I like best of a blog? Believe it or not, after reading the posts, I like to go over and see what blogs THAT person likes to read. Some of my favorite blogs have been found this way!
Just my 2 cents worth.

I guess this falls under content -- I like personal writing. Not just "I knit this, here's a picture, download the pattern" but "You won't believe this yarn, Peggy told me about it and I had to go to three shops and couldn't find it and when I got home, I found three skeins of it under the couch. Go figure."
