I don't know if you remember those plastic square pot holder looms from when you were a child? I remember mine - I used to spend hours weaving those little loopers back and forth and proudly giving my creations away to anyone I could find who would take them.
Imagine my happiness and surprise when I found out Hilary had designed her own potholder looms using recycled sock starts from a sock mill. I love the way she designed a solution to something that would normally be thrown away and upcycled it into something functional.
I couldn't resist ordering one and I've been looping it along ever since. First, a large, thick, cushy potholder perfect for hot pans. Next, a variation woven on every other nail both directions to make a softer, smaller size perfect for a mug rug, that's currently keeping my tea hot. And another mug rug started and just waiting to be woven off.
My brain is churning with the possibilities! What colors do you think I should do next?? =)
I was just thinking about these last week! I was wondering whatever happened to my red plastic pot holder maker...or the pot holders for that matter! Good for you for bringing it back! :)

I used to love making these! My daughter used to have a loom, too. But I guess we gave it away. So fun!
What colors should you do next? I'd do purple, gold, and green. Have fun!

Awww, I do remember these! I say you should use them to weave all your scraps and then make a big lap blanket. Piecing would be a pain, but so worth it! Way better than mitered squares :)

Keri, you totally enabled me into getting one! I can't wait for it to arrive. I never had a potholder loom when I was a child - I guess you're never too old!

Oh my gosh how funny! Mine was red too! It must be a popular color, or the only color they made...I can't remember! =)

Oooh cool idea Crystal! I'm totally going weave crazy, I stalked a weave-it on ebay and it's arriving at my house soon. I would love to make a weave-it afghan like in the piecework magazine article.
