I was suddenly struck by the urge to make another one of these pillows.
It's an excellent use of handspun and fast and easy to do. Since Leah was asking for more details on how I put it together, I decided to host a mini make along for it.
Let's crochet!
If you'd like to crochet along with me, it's easy.
- Start with 4 oz of handspun, in heavy worsted to heavy-dk weight. The best yardage would be between 160-250 yards. Of course, if you want to use a bigger pillow, feel free to use more!
- Pick out your favorite crochet hook for the size of yarn you used. In this case, I picked out this yarn and a 4.5mm crochet hook.
- Start crocheting your granny square! I used this tutorial here. Great pictures and very easy to follow! Keep crocheting until you run out of yarn, making sure to finish the round.
Any questions? Just ask in the comments and I'll get back to you. On Friday, I'll post the next steps to the make-along, plenty of time for you to finish your square! =)
That's lovely! I've got 1 skein of homespun I was going to make wrist warmers from - but a pillow like yours would be so nice!

LovelY! And interesting that you used a print fabric behind the crocheted square.

Very pretty, Keri, and it looks so soft and cushy!

I LOVE this pattern! I've used other yarns and it always works out great! I've given them as gifts and they are always a hit! Thanks so much!
