My Crafty Place
I'm starting to settle in to my new home - the boxes are getting unpacked, things are getting set up and it's starting to feel more homey. One of my biggest WIP's is my very own craft room - in the last house, that shared space with the guest room - but no more! I am so excited to have my own "spot" where I can create and wreak chaos on a room and then shut the door and go make dinner and not worry about picking it up.
Here's a shot of it here - the only thing missing is the other side of the wall which has yarn/books in cabinets. I need some furniture for that room so I'll head up to Ikea (in VA) one of these days and pick up something. What would you suggest?? I'm at a complete loss for how to decorate the room and make it feel artistic yet uncluttered. I would love to paint it a bright blue like so many others, if I thought I could pull it off ( I can't! =))
Have you ever suddenly been struck by the fact that you had nothing more you wanted to do in that moment but fold fabric??? Yea- neither had I until now. I stayed up way late last night folding and organizing and I have a big stack to go but it's mostly done. My fabric stash is very modest but I'm a yarn collector not a fabric collector, for now. =) If you want to do it yourself, there's a tutorial here. (And check out the little sheepy fabric in the front, isn't that adorable?!)
Anyhow, a few people had asked for some pics of the new digs so here's a couple to tie you over. This is a shot of the kitchen/living room that is open into essentially 1 room and flows into each other. No pictures or drapes have been hung yet, but you get the idea. I love this space! In my old house we had a tiny galley kitchen that was cut off from the rest of the house which made spending time in there no fun and I avoided cooking. Now I can spend all the time in there I want and I love the size! You can't see but there is also a set of cabinets on the left wall and a built in desk where I often take my laptop and work down there at night. The next thing I'm working on is the library - once I get it all setup I'll post pics of that too.
I love my new home and the area that I live in - if you have any tips for the raleigh/wake forest area let me know, I'm having a great time exploring!
