Neat Trick

I love technology as a rule but I love it even more when you can use those cool little gadgets to make knitting fun and easy.  I was messing around with my ipod video this morning and was able to load up knitting patterns and charts onto it.  Pretty cool!

Adding Knitting Patterns:
I found the how-to here for text files
The idea is that you copy your patterns (or transcribe them) onto text files.  I prefer notepad myself as it's simple and comes free with your computer.  Be careful because I believe there is a 4k limit in file size.

Adding Knitting Charts:
Here is where I got the idea for how to do images.
You simply do a print-screen for charts or save charts as image files.  I recommend cropping out any extra space to make the images larger on the screen.  My itunes software picks up the new images when it does updates and loads them quickly.  I recommend saving the charts in their own image directories so they're easy to find.

I tried to get a few pics of the screens but it was hard, and quite glare-y, but you get the idea.  Please note that according to the apple website, only those ipods with a "dock connector" will work with notes, and I'm guessing you need a video or photo one to show images.  I've never used a nano so I have no idea, sorry!

I'm off to go load more charts and knitting patterns, this is fun! =)

Techy Post

Some people may know that I'm a software developer by day, and occasionally I'm going to post something techy that the vast majority of you are not going to be interested in.  But, I like putting up links that have helped me, and then I can reference it later, if I run into the same problem. (*fingers and toes crossed I don't*)

So! With that said, if you are trying to open up a web project in Visual Studio and receive this error "Visual Studio.NET has detected that the specified Web server is not running  ASP.NET 1.1.  You will be unable to run ASP.NET applications or services."  Do yourself a favor, run over to this link and save yourself a few hours.  You'll be glad you did, I wish I had before I started knocking my head against my desk.

AND, if you love Benihana's ginger salad dressing like I do, try Makoto Ginger Dressing.  I picked it up from the store and I'm eating a salad right now.  It's so yummy!
